5 Anime to watch during Summer 2020

As the new season approaches, many in the anime community are preparing (or have already prepared) their watchlist. With long awaited sequels, popular manga adaptations and some new additions, here is my list of 5 anime you should watch during Summer 2020!

1) Re:ZERO kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season Part 1

Ah sh- here we go again.

Ever since the first season released back in Spring 2016, Re:Zero became one of the most popular isekais out there. Re:Zero 2nd Season (as it has been shortened to) was supposed to be airing on April but because of the COVID-19 outbreak, it got delayed to July 2020. If you’re in for some s̸̬̠̍̚ư̆̐͋̆f̿͛͆͐͏̭̘͚͓̗̯f̛͇̳͖́ȇ͚͕̊ͅr̰̞͈͈͐͑ͫͧ͌̍̌ï̿̅ͭͪ҉ņ̥̬ͤ̊ͮ͐̃͑̆ḡ̛̣͈̱̙̆͋̅̓ , crazy plot, and a lot of bloody action scenes, then Re:Zero 2nd Season is for you.

2) Kanojo, Okarishimasu

CHIZURUUUUU!

Based on the well-known manga by Reiji Miyajima, ‘Kanojo, Okarishimasu’ is a really hyped anime. As a man who has read the manga myself, I can guarantee you that this show is going to good. It begins with a college student named Kazuya who decides to rent a girlfriend after breaking up with his first one, from that point on he goes through a lot of unexpected events which will surely make you want to see more. If you’re looking for a Chad MC, comedic harem, and mild ecchi, then ‘Kanojo, Okarishimasu’ is for you.

3) Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!

Ah yes, SUGOI DEKAI. The instant I saw that, I was hooked.

Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai is another manga adaptation which is really hyped. IT is about a student who just wants to live a normal life, yet is always pestered by his underclassman, who always wants to hang out. The reason why I’ll be watching this show is because of the underclassman, Uzaki. If you’re in for some more comedy, wholesome (maybe) romance, and PLOT ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), then Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai is for you.

4) Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld Part 2

Kirito: Alive. Enemies: Guess we’ll die.

Love it or hate it, A-1 Pictures is back with the long-awaited sequel to War of Underworld Part 1. This season is probably going to be the most eventful season yet as Sword Art Online gets back up on its feet with Alicization after the tarnishing of its reputation from the Alfheim arc (which I agree, is trash). Man, I can’t wait to see how the fanbase would react to the return of Cheat Code Kirito (there are many names, this is just one). If you’re in for some really well animated fights, OP Harem, and OP MC, then SAO Alicization War of Underworld Part 2 is for you (though, I highly recommend watching the previous seasons).

5) Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha

Not another OP MC… Well, time to prepare the drinks!

Since I’ve recommended too many sequels and manga adaptions on this list, here is a new Light Novel adaptation. It’s not a surprise that this show is going to be about and OP MC as it is adapted by Silver Link; They have produced many OP MC titles such as Kenja no Mago, Bofuri, Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry. The reason why I’ve put it on this list, despite it being a seeming average show, is because I’m always in for OP MC. So, if you’re looking for an extensive and complicated plot then this show isn’t for you (unless it does have a good plot, which is unlikely with these kinds of shows).

The Bottom Line

This list is just a recommendations list that was compiled from my watchlist. There are a lot of other anime being released next season but most of the hyped ones are sequels (can’t wait to watch Oregairu’s new season!). What anime are YOU going to watch next season? Leave a comment!

  1. Man, the comment section is desolate in almost every blog I’ve seen on Vivaldi. Not that I care though. I’m doing this for my own enjoyment and in hopes that some non-weebs can come to the world of anime.

    1. Well, bassicaly being a weeb in a web browser community is kinda bruh-ish. But you still have readers GANBATTE~

      1. Thanks a lot! Vivaldi is the only place that I know where I can blog for free. Of course, making a standalone website costs money and I don’t have any. Vivaldi’s feature page serves as a great advertiser for me. I’m pretty much satisfied with the fact my blog is being read, even if the number is small.

    2. I’ve always thought of the Vivaldi forums as a corner of the internet away from mainstream stuff like Reddit, so I don’t find that all that surprising.

The interesting thing is that this corner of the internet is so full of great stuff, it’s hard to believe. Great job. I can’t wait to watch Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! It looks ridiculous, so thanks!

      1. There is no limit to ridiculousness in anime. I think that Anime is the most creative and crazy animation medium out there.

  2. Very epic, I just hope that I won’t get mad by the harem. In most cases the main heroine always get cucced. But hey CHAD MC let’s see.
About SAO ALicization: WOU, ARISUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!! nothing more to add.
    SUGOI DEKAI PLOT POINT.
    NTR:Zero better be good lmao
That Mao stuff looks weak lol

    1. OOF!
A lot of people are put off by OP MC and Harem but for some reason I’m attracted to trash. I often laugh at the absurdity of my tastes.

I actually don’t know how fast they will adapt Rent-A-Girlfriend (it’s been a while since I read the manga. I forgot about it when I was migrating from MangaRock-MangaUniverse-Tachiyomi. By fast, I meant chapters/episode) but then yes sooner or later we’ll get to see the MC being a chad and helping the harem out.

I mean, the MC is pretty relatable imo (but I take pride in my Virgin status. Probably because I believe in BROS BEFORE HOES)
